The short version. Alien Biomes has no accounts, serves no advertising and sells nothing to anyone. We measure page views with Google Analytics, our hosts keep ordinary server logs, and if you send us something — a newsletter sign-up, a comment or a message — we keep what you typed. That is all of it.
Alien Biomes (alienbiomes.com) is operated by Freedom Games LLC (indie.io). Questions and removal requests go through the contact form.
| What | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Page views, referrer, approximate region, device and browser type | To see which worlds and species people read | Google Analytics 4 |
| Standard server logs, including IP address and user agent | Delivering pages, blocking abuse and scrapers | Cloudflare and our hosting provider |
| Your email address, if you join the newsletter | To send you new worlds and episodes | Stored on our own server |
| Comments you post (the name you choose and your text) | To show them on the page | Stored on our own server; published on the site |
| Anything you type into the contact form, and an email if you give one | So we can act on it and reply | Stored on our own server; our team is notified |
We do not ask for your real name, address or payment details anywhere on this site.
Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and tell a returning reader from a new one. Your browser’s local storage keeps small things like the species you have favourited. That never leaves your device. Blocking cookies does not break the site.
Alien Biomes currently serves no advertising and runs no advertising trackers. If that changes, this page will be updated before any ads appear.
Nobody, other than the services that make the site work: Google Analytics for measurement, and Cloudflare and our hosting provider for delivery. We do not sell or rent data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Unsubscribe from the newsletter, ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it (including a comment) via the contact form. Opt out of analytics with any content blocker or Google’s opt-out add-on. If you are in the EU, UK or California, you have rights of access, correction and deletion under the GDPR or CCPA; use the same form.
Alien Biomes is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Our servers are in the United States, and Cloudflare serves pages from locations worldwide.
