Vermis Prime

『Alien Biomes』シリーズより。『Sulfolithos arachne（硫黄織り）』は、Vermin の灼熱の地熱噴気孔を六脚の岩石食者として移動する。黒曜石のような甲羅が極度の熱に耐え、特殊な顎で冷却した地殻を微粒子状に粉砕する。この生物は、変化するプレートの上を意図的な遅さで移動し、腹部に沿ったろ過摂食器官を通じて硫黄豊富な塵を抽出する。 この一次消費者は、揮発性ガスが凝縮する場所で繁栄し、未処理の鉱物堆積物を代謝エネルギーに変換する。その絹のような分泌物は緩い岩屑を結合させ、将来の放牧のために不安定な崖脚を安定させる。Vermis Prime の高圧大気における永遠の薄明の中で、織りは地質活動と惑星の萌芽的な生物圏との重要な架け橋として立っている。

The Vapor-Eel (*Aerovora serpens*) navigates Vermis Prime's crushing atmosphere as a slender, translucent ribbon of semi-stable gas. Propelled by rhythmic undulations of its ionized core, it glides effortlessly through the dense, neon-hued haze, filtering trace metals and volatile toxins from the air. Its gill-like membranes flash with bioluminescence as they scavenge heavy particulates, converting atmospheric poison into buoyant energy. This specialized scavenger thrives where other life struggles, acting as a vital atmospheric scrubber for the super-Earth's toxic skies. Observers note its tendency to congregate near volcanic vents, where metal vapor concentrations peak. By metabolizing these hazardous compounds, the eel not only sustains itself but subtly clarifies the local air, creating fleeting pockets of breathable stability amidst the silicate storms.

地殻摂食者（Lithophaga terra）は、ヴェルミス・プライムの不安定なケイ酸塩平原に生息する低姿勢の戦車型生物である。その甲羅は周囲の基盤岩と融合し、酵素性溶剤を分泌して鉱物層を溶解しながら栄養を得ることで、惑星の過酷な地表をゆっくりと移動することを可能にする。 摂食を行う際、この生物は粗い岩石を鏡面のように磨き上げ、反射する帯状の痕跡を残す。これらの輝く道筋は、領域を示すマーキングであると同時に、頻発する砂嵐の中を他の摂食者を導く航路標識としても機能し、装甲に覆われた腹部の下に広がる豊かな地質を明らかにする。
