Born of a world without light, it possesses no eyes to waste energy on; instead, its biology is a masterpiece of thermal engineering. The creature's body is a translucent, gelatinous fusion of muscle and specialized lipid bladders, glowing with a faint, rhythmic bioluminescence that serves not as a lure, but as a metabolic byproduct of its unique heat-recycling system. It survives not by chasing, but by becoming a thermal ghost. Its body temperature matches the ambient super-cooled water exactly, rendering it invisible to the thermal sensors of its prey. Only when it strikes does it unleash a violent exothermic contraction, a localized burst of heat that stuns prey and creates a shockwave of convection to deliver it to the mouth. The Cryooculus does not swim in the traditional sense. It is a master of buoyancy control, utilizing a series of internal, pressurized vacuoles filled with metabolic hydrogen gas generated from electrolysis of the ocean water.
